The varsity softball team won the silver division championship in extra innings at a tournament held at Monte Vista High School to keep their game winning streak going.

With the ending score being 12-11, the Lady Tigers pulled out with the win in the eleventh inning against San Diego High. Morse was winning most of the game, but the Cavers caught up to tie the game in the seventh inning.

“As the game progressed, we were slowing down which made the other team catch up,” said first baseman Alyssia Valdez.

To get to the championship game, the team had to surpass Monte Vista, Hoover, and Coronado. The games were held from April 2, 2018 to April 7 2018.

The Lady Tigers won all their games and were undefeated throughout the whole tournament. However, they suffered their first loss against La Jolla High in a conference game 5-0.

“The loss really didn’t bring us down,” said varsity captain Veronica Quirno. “I’m still proud of the team, and we still have more games left.”

The softball team is now on a three game losing streak after losing to San Diego and Santa Fe Christian. However, they defeated Serra High on April 18, 2018 to make their record 13-4.
