Freshman, junior varsity, and varsity wrestling had a scrimmage meet at El Capitan on Nov. 29 against El Capitan, Helix, and Monta Vista to gain some experience.

Only 14 wrestlers on the team wrestled, and they each went up three times. Out of the 14, seven wrestlers won their matches.

“As the season progresses, we’ll get a lot better,” said Senior Anthony Gonzales, wrestling team captain.

The purpose of the scrimmage meet was for all the wrestlers to gain experience before the actual season starts. Each wrestler can see what level they are at and what level other schools are at.

“It’s my first year wrestling, and I got to see what it was actually like during the scrimmage meet,” said Varsity Wrestler Isaiah Rodriguez.

Overall, the team won half of their matches. This is the beginning of the year, and the team has many more matches to go.
