Six juniors attended the Rotary Youth Leadership Awards (RYLA) conference at Idyllwild Pines Camp on April 20 through April 22, 2018 as a celebration for their leadership activities.

Juniors Tatiana Butte, Nyaduoth Gatkuoth, Samira Hussein, Eugenell Lopez, Klaire Revillo, and Chris Westover were chosen to attend the conference.

“The whole leadership thing is up my alley,” Gatkuoth said. “I am very driven to try and be a leader.”

RYLA aims to offer juniors an opportunity to meet with student leaders from other communities and to exchange ideas with them.

“The camp was inspiring because it was filled with people who know what they want to do with their life,” Lopez said.

During the camp, the students learned how to arrange activities and service projects in their community, discussed approaches for resolving conflicts, and explored new career paths.

“I am excited to bring what I learn from RYLA to my community,” Gatkuoth said.
