The Morse Theatre Productions Club (MTPC), purposed to create a platform in which club members will engage with the arts, held its first meeting on Oct. 16.

Club members have already planned to hold fundraising events such as: a Karaoke Night in November and a Movie Night in December to obtain money for future activities. Students, even those who were not in the theatre class, have decided to join.

“I wanted to join because all of my friends made it look really interesting and exciting,” said Senior John Ross Raguire.

“It’s a great experience for the school because it’s a new thing we haven’t done,” mentioned Senior Aaron Tubalado.

In addition to these events, the MTPC and both theatre classes held a Halloween-themed flash mob on Wednesday, Oct. 31 to promote the club. Fake cobwebs, balloons with faces, a sound system, and students wearing zombie costumes and makeup saturated the quad. Participants have spent days to weeks learning and perfecting choreography to Michael Jackson’s Thriller. While some of the members danced, others held up signs that encouraged viewers to join the club.

Participants in the flash mob have recognized that the MTPC is off to a humble beginning, but they are hoping that the flash mob has drawn several students in wanting to become a member of the club. The club is averaging about ten students every meeting, but that does not discourage the members.

“I hope there will be more,” noted Senior Vince Bartolome.

Club meetings are held every Monday and Tuesday in Room T-201.
