The Morse Drill team performed on Oct. 16, 2018 at the Amphitheater to showcase their new members after months of practice.

“We began this routine in the summer around the end of August and practiced non-stop from there,” stated captain Mae Lopez.

With impromptu performances being requested of the team and a loss of two team members, Drill underwent a series of setbacks.

“We continued to work through our minor challenges,” Lopez said . “We held summer practices and since we’ve been practicing 4 days a week for 3 hours.”

Following the performance, the team will begin to prepare for auxiliary collaborations which will take place on Dec. 14 and 19.

“It will definitely be a struggle to create and clean three performances in a total of four weeks,” Lopez revealed. “However, as a spirit team we should be promoting school spirit, which is why we participate in these events.”

Other than pep rallies, the Drill team competes in competitions throughout southern California. The annual regional competition will occur in early 2019 at San Pasqual High School.

“Performing means a lot to me,” commented Alina Tousey, a second-year member. “I love when I’m able to express to others what drill is and why it’s a fun team that anyone can be on.
