It’s the most wonderful time of the year to give to those in need.

Donating old clothes that are overgrown and abandoned are the perfect presents for surviving the cold winter.

To support Morse’s transgender community, the Gender-Sexuality Alliance (GSA) has started a transgender clothing drive from Nov. 29th to Dec. 21st by sending boxes to classrooms 603, 414, B-34, 208, 209, and 902.

“I always want to support my demographic of trans students at Morse,” informed Savion Cooper, co-president of GSA and senior. “We’re such a small population and that’s just more of a reason to support them.”

GSA wants students and teachers to be informed that there is a transgender population in Morse and that this small community needs acceptance for who they are.

Once the boxes of gender affirming clothes are collected, GSA will host an event the week before winter break to converse on issues involving the transgender community and to allow trans students from Morse to get clothes they need. Anything remaining will be donated to the Tiger Pantry.

“I feel generally positive about it!” expressed Cooper. “I hope it’s something that opens up support for the LGBTQIA+ community as a whole.”

It took the club three weeks before the start to plan how long the drive will be and to prepare the boxes.

Although GSA will be giving out clothes to the transgender community, the club’s gift for everyone is for students and teachers to understand the situation trans students are going through and to make a positive change for them.
